Former Wildcat Bobby Dalbec has big day in Red Sox win
BOSTON, MA – Deeply entrenched in a playoff race to close out the season, former Wildcat Bobby Dalbec had a big day in the Boston Red Sox win.
From 2014-16, we grew accustomed to seeing former Wildcat Bobby Dalbec grace the friendly confines of Hi Corbett Field here in Tucson, where Dalbec dazzled fans both as a pitcher/fielder and hitter.
From his powerful bat to his flashy glove, and his dominant pitching, the kid from Seattle was making a name for himself!
Well, fast forward to 2021, and the same beloved Wildcat is continuing to make a name for himself, however, now it is with the Boston Red Sox, who find themselves in a heated playoff race.
While it may have just been another cool, crisp Boston evening in August, to baseball fans it was an important showdown for the Red Sox.
The storied American League baseball team found themselves in a must-win game against league foe, the Minnesota Twins, with playoff aspirations still on the line.
Chris Sale delivered three, spectacular innings in his highly anticipated return to the mound, however, it was Bobby Dalbec that stole the show in this one.
Going an impressive 3-4 from the dish, Dalbec would fuel the Red Sox offense in this one. The former Wildcat was apparently seeing baseball’s the size of beach balls, as he seemingly couldn’t miss.
Homering to left-center in the bottom of the second inning, Bobby got things going for the Red Sox with the three-run shot, giving Boston the commanding 3-0 lead.
Just four innings later, Dalbec would come up big again. With two runners on, Bobby would bash a single to center that would score two runners, extending Boston’s lead to 7-2.
Just one inning later, Bobby would cap his evening with another home run, this time it was a two-run shot that was smashed to left on top of the ‘Green Monster’, giving the Red Sox a 10-run lead, and eventual 12-2 victory.
Finishing his day batting 3-4 with a whopping seven RBI’s and two home runs, Dalbec was a big part of the offensive success, and hopefully, this performance carries the Red Sox down the stretch here.
Following the teams’ win, Dalbec raises his batting average to a respectable .235 on the year, with 16 RBI’s, and 59 RBI’s.
