Keeping up with all the NBA action involving our former Wildcats has made for a busy off-season, and Stanley Johnson is the latest Wildcat on the move.

It is always great seeing former Wildcats succeed in their post-Arizona playing careers, and so far in this busy NBA off-season, there have been plenty of roster moves involving our Wildcats. Former Wildcat Stanley Johnson just happens to be the latest that is on the move.

Making news via social media on Monday was that the former Wildcat aptly nicknamed the ‘Stanimal’ has a new home.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania announced that Stanley officially signed with the Chicago Bulls.

Joining a group that is possibly poised to make a playoff run in 2021-22, the seven-year veteran of the league and California native will help bolster a roster that could surely use more role players and experienced, veteran guys.

The former lottery pick and Arizona Basketball star is on the move as Stanley Johnson has his sites set on a new opportunity.

Leaving Toronto, Stanley officially closes that chapter of his life, where he spent two seasons with the Raptors. In his 86 games spent with Toronto, Johnson never seemingly found his niche, averaging just 3.8 points and 2.2 rebounds in an average of 13.4 minutes played per game.

Now 25, Johnson has not quite lived up to the lottery pick hype, however, he will have a fresh start in Chicago with a new opportunity for an increased role and a chance to be a defensive stopper on a team in desperate need of tough players.

Luckily for him, he is still young and Johnson hasn’t quite hit his prime. However, his role in Chicago won’t require him to be a major contributor, as we should expect Johnson to continue to get spot minutes in a deep rotation of players used.

Either way, we are happy to see Johnson continue to get opportunities, and wish him the best!
