As Arizona Football continues to fill out the recruiting class of 2022, we look at the remaining recruiting needs with just few open spots left for the Wildcats.

It has been a rather successful recruiting cycle for Arizona Football as the Wildcats have compiled 16 commitments in the class of 2022 so far, and currently hold the No. 33 overall recruiting class according to 247Sports.

And if that’s not impressive enough, Arizona has 3-4 four-star players depending on which recruiting service you use, and the average commitment rating is currently .8637, a stark contrast from the Wildcats’ rating of .8353 in 2021, or 0.8372 in 2020.

To say that head coach Jedd Fisch and the Wildcats have recruited well based on Arizona’s recent results would be a major understatement.

However, with final signing still months away in February, we have a long way to go to fill out this group for 2022.

With the class of 2022 being primarily filled with some good playmakers, there are still a few crucial recruiting needs for Arizona Football.

So far, this recruiting class seems to be very defensive-heavy, which is by no means a bad thing, especially when you look at the defensive results from Arizona in the past 5-10 years. However, in two games so far, it appears the teams’ biggest need at this point putting more focus and emphasis on building and improving the offensive line.

If the first two games have showed us anything about this team, it is that this group has some glaring weaknesses along the offensive line. And with just two commitments in the class from Grayson Stovall and Jonah Savaiinaea, it is apparent Arizona is going to need more help their moving forward.

Right now, Arizona can essentially take nine more players for 2022 before hitting that “maximum 25 recruiting count”, and perhaps even less depending on where the Wildcats’ overall scholarship allotment is at.

With the remaining recruiting spots, Coach Brennan Carroll and Fisch would be wise to hit the junior college ranks to find immediate impact players, or at worst, hit the all-too-familiar transfer portal to find experienced linemen.

The offensive line has had some execution problems against BYU and SDSU, and with limited depth at that group, any injuries would be devastating. The Wildcats need help along the offensive line in the worst way, and let’s just hope Fisch has a plan to fix it quickly.
