After falling to 0-3 on the season to start the year, Arizona Football and Jedd Fisch ask for more patience from fans in their press conference.

Coming into the year, many fans knew and anticipated that this was going to be a long season and rebuild. After all, what head coach Jedd Fisch inherited was the equivalent of a dumpster fire.

The culture was bad, the talent and depth were minimal at best, and the team had won just nine games from 2018-20. Not exactly the best situation to be walking into. Nonetheless, Fisch and staff have persisted.

Putting in work all off-season, Arizona seemingly had a rather successful stretch of five-to-six months, landing several transfers, they hired an experienced and talented staff, and seemingly said and done all the right things to bring the fans and alumni back in the fold.

However, that only got the Wildcats so far as the results speak more about the trajectory of the program, and the truth of the matter is that this team and program were severely damaged (i.e. – see the product on the field).

Now following the teams’ shocking and rare loss to NAU, fans are upset, and rightfully so, but coach Fisch urges more patience.

In short, it was a rough weekend for Arizona Football. The Wildcats lost to NAU for the first time in 89 years and extended their losing streak to 15 games (currently the nation’s longest active losing streak).

And as Arizona arguably suffered their worst loss in program history on Saturday, naturally, fans are upset and frustrated. As a result, Fisch is urging fans to have more patience.

Now, while he is correct in that this is a program and process that needs patience, however, what fans are upset about is not the fact that the Wildcats are not 3-0, but rather 0-3.

And more concerning than the porous start to the 2021 season, is that the Wildcats have seemingly regressed each week from that competitive showing against BYU in week one.

With the road ahead becoming tougher for the Wildcats, the opportunities for wins become less likely. The hope is that this team can begin to make slow and incremental improvements week-to-week to truly build off of.
