With the Arizona Football season fully under way, the Wildcats faced another setback as offensive lineman Edgard Burrola enters the transfer portal.

The 2021 Arizona Football season is off and running and already things have gotten off to a rough and shaky start. Not only as the Wildcats have fallen to 0-3 on the year, but now they also lose offensive lineman Edgar Burrola to transfer.

Making news on Wednesday afternoon, it was announced that Edgar would be entering the all too famous transfer portal, just days ahead of the Wildcats playing No. 3 Oregon, and also ahead of the week 4 redshirt rule deadline.

Originally a three-star commitment in the 2017 recruiting class, Edgar hails from the talented Desert Pines High Schools in Las Vegas, and came to Tucson despite having an offer from Idaho as well.

Well after spending four seasons in Tucson and putting together a solid career with the Wildcats, Edgar is on to new things.

For Arizona Football, the loss of Edgar Burrola comes at a rather challenging and difficult time.

So far, one of the biggest weaknesses the Wildcats have had in 2021 is along the offensive line. As a group, they have struggled in pass protection and in opening holes for the running backs. So naturally, losing a player like Burrola hurts.

Now, granted Edgar had seen limited snaps so far in 2021, so the loss isn’t quite the same as losing a Donovan Laie or Josh McCauley for instance, however, make no mistake, this loss hurts from a depth standpoint, and again, as we’ve said, the offensive line needs a lot of work.

With only nine games left on the season, the Wildcats’ biggest challenge will be whether they can get this group to gel more and improve.

Outside of that, it is clear where Arizona’s focus will be in recruiting to close out this class. Either way, we wish Edgar the best in his next venture!
