Addressing the media in yet another press conference, Arizona Football head coach Jedd Fisch still doesn’t name a starter for Saturday at Oregon.

We are in week four of the young Arizona Football season, and Jedd Fisch and the Wildcats will have as tough of a matchup as any this weekend as they square off with No. 3 Oregon in Eugene.

Coming in, the Wildcats are 0-3 and are still looking for answers on offense. In their first three games, Arizona is averaging just 339.7 yards and 16.3 points per game.

At the root of their offensive struggles are the Wildcat’s deficiencies along the offensive line and at quarterback.

And making news in his press conference on Thursday, head coach Jedd Fisch still did not name a starter at quarterback for Arizona Football.

So far in this young season, Arizona has used three different quarterbacks. Now while the Wildcats may have a few options to turn to against Oregon, however, it seems coach Fisch and his staff are unsure who to turn to.

Each all has its strengths, but as we are finding out, they all have plenty of weaknesses as well.

With Gunner Cruz, he has a lot of good tools and raw potential, but he is limited by his poor mobility and he tends to hold the ball a bit too long, hampering the offense from finding or staying in rhythm.

Then you have Will Plummer. A young quarterback with plus-average athleticism, he is a quarterback that is a bit more mobile but tends to make his fair share of mistakes and tends to turn the ball over. See against NAU where he dropped a snap and threw two picks.

Lastly, there is Jordan McCloud. While he technically has the most collegiate experience among Arizona’s options at quarterbacks, he also got to Tucson late. As a result, his reps have been limited.

He did look decent against NAU but again, it was limited action, so the sample size is too small to make a fair assessment on McCloud.

Naturally, all those things would make any head coach leery. However, the Wildcats are 0-3 and are facing a real possibility of finishing the year winless.

While I understand coach Fisch is trying to put together the best group he can to put himself and his team in a position to win, however, his team is 0-3 and fresh off a loss to NAU.

For now, the Wildcats need to build for the future, focus on development, and get better week-to-week. At quarterback, it is hard to accomplish that when the position is treated like a revolving door.

Fisch would be wise to just pick someone, someone preferably with the highest upside and room for growth, and just go with it. Work to develop that player and go all-in in bringing stability to the position. He can’t choose someone based on whether they had a good week in practice or not.

Right now, this team needs leadership and stability in the worst way possible, and let’s just hope this group has someone that steps up and takes control.
