Following a brief stint with the Portland Trailblazers in 2020-21, former Wildcat star Rondae Hollis-Jefferson is on his way to Turkey.

It has been a rather busy off-season for quite a few former Arizona Basketball stars, and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson is just the latest Wildcat that is on the move.

Making news on Monday was that former Wildcat standout Rondae has signed with Turkish club Besiktas Icrypex, according to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, officially making the transition from the NBA to overseas.

Now 26, Rondae joins a slew of Wildcats that have recently signed overseas, and he makes the switch after appearing in 11 games (one start) with the Trailblazers last season.

For those that maybe didn’t know, Rondae was a late addition last season in Portland, and saw limited action in those 11 games, including a brief run in the playoffs.

Overall, Hollis-Jefferson has spent six seasons in the league, including four seasons with the Brooklyn Nets, who drafted him No. 23 overall in the 2015 NBA Draft. Rondae even had a brief stint in Toronto from 2019-20.

Well, after appearing in 319 games and making154 starts, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson is on the move, officially taking his talents to Turkey.

Joining Besiktas, who are a part of Turkey’s Basketball Super League, the team saw some solid success after finishing fifth overall in the regular season before reaching the playoffs and losing in the semifinals to the leagues’ eventual champion.

Already, the 2021-22 BSL season is underway as Besiktas had started their season with an 86-77 loss to Bahcesehir Koleji.

With the season in full swing, you would have to think Rondae will provide immediate depth and experience, and will likely elevate the level of talent and skill to the team.

In his six seasons in the NBA, Rondae has averaged a respectable 9.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game.

The thing to note here is that this may not be a permanent destination for him either. If he chooses, Rondae may have the option to still return to the NBA too! Either way, this is an exciting opportunity for him!
