Arizona Softball: Local players return home and Fall Classic Games Scheduled

Action is picking up for the Arizona Softball team as the Wildcats welcome local returning players to the team and schedule games for the Fall Classic. 

Arizona Softball, led by first-year head coach Caitlin Lowe started fall practice this week, and already Lowe picked up two key players from the transfer portal during the off-season, both of which return home to Southern Arizona.

Bailey Thompson, the Graduate Student makes her way back home by way of Seattle University. Thompson brings a ton of experience having played 157 games at Catcher and Designated Player leading Seattle in home runs for three seasons.

She was named to the First-Team All-Western Athletic Conference (WAC) in 2019 and 2021 and made Second-Team honors in 2018. Her power and experience will definitely be an asset for the Cats in 2022. Thompson lists Tucson as her hometown as she was a superstar at Canyon Del Oro High School.

Blaise Biringer, the Sophomore, makes her way back home by way of Ole Miss. Biringer started for the Rebels at second base and even played against Arizona in the 2021 Regionals in Tucson. Biringer started 55 games for the Rebels in her freshman year, playing in a total of 58 games while boasting a .337 batting average. She was named to the Southeastern Conference (SEC) All Freshman Team. Biringer lists Nogales as her hometown, and was a superstar at Cienega High School in Vail.

The University of Arizona Fall Softball Classic will take place at Rita Hillenbrand Memorial Stadium in Tucson, AZ from October 29-31, 2021.

1:00 pm – Pima College vs. Arizona Western
4:00 pm – Arizona vs. Central Arizona
6:00 pm – Arizona vs. Arizona Western

Saturday, October 30th
10:00 am – Arizona Western vs. Central Arizona
12:00 pm – Arizona Western vs. Phoenix College
3:00 pm – Arizona vs. Phoenix College
5:00 pm – Arizona vs. Eastern Arizona
7:00 pm – Pima College vs. Eastern Arizona

Sunday, October 31st
10:00 am – Central Arizona vs. Eastern Arizona
12:00 pm – Pima vs. Eastern Arizona
2:00 pm – Arizona vs. Pima

Arizona Softball fans have much to look forward to with excitement in 2022. Arizona is preparing for the upcoming season after going 41-15 in 2021 and making an appearance in the Women’s College World Series. The Wildcats eventually lost to Florida State in their final game of 2021 in Oklahoma City after going undefeated in Regionals and Super Regionals.
