Following their week four loss to No. 3 Oregon, Arizona Football (0-4, 0-1) enters their bye week at a crucial point in the season.

The Wildcats are 0-4 (0-1) to start the year, and following their 16th straight loss to No. 3 Oregon last weekend, Arizona Football enters a much-needed bye week to regroup and try to correct some things quickly.

So far in 2021, the results have been somewhat mixed. While Arizona is 0-4 and off to yet another terrible start, the Wildcats have looked competitive in some of their football action, while completely overmatched in other parts of the young season.

Coming in, expectations were low and understandably so. Recruiting the past few years has been down, we have a first-year head coach that is sort of learning as he goes, and most importantly, this program has had to learn to shed a bad culture of losing.

Luckily it is still early in the young Arizona Football season, and with the bye week here, the Wildcats have a great opportunity to turn some things around.

For Arizona Football, the bye week comes at an opportune time to correct and fix things. Arizona’s effort against Oregon last Saturday was significantly better than it was against NAU and San Diego State.

However, one week is not enough to significantly change the trajectory of this team that may win just zero games. The hope is that with continued repetition, progress, and hopefully more continuity at quarterback, the Wildcats can begin to make quick strides. That’s why this bye week comes at a pivotal and crucial time for Arizona Football.

The Wildcats will have the week off before returning to action against No. 20 UCLA at home on October 9, which coincidentally was their last win as a program.

Perhaps the Wildcats can get the surprise upset here, however, a win won’t come easy. UCLA is off to an impressive 3-1 (1-0) start to the season with wins over LSU and Stanford.

If Arizona is going to pull off the upset, the defense is going to need to continue to step up, but more importantly, the offense is going to have to find more consistency and answers at quarterback.

Hopefully, the Wildcats use this week wisely and truly use it as an opportunity to correct things and get better!
