With Arizona Football gearing up for their match-up with UCLA on Saturday, the Wildcats name Jordan McCloud the starter at quarterback.

It has been a busy couple of weeks for Arizona Football as the Wildcats got a much-needed week off following their loss to Oregon. And as the Wildcats prepare for UCLA, Arizona is looking for more consistency at quarterback, as they name Jordan McCloud the starter.

So far, 2021 has been a rough year for Arizona Football. The Wildcats currently are 0-4 (0-1) and are losers of 16-straight, a streak that dates back to 2019. Entrenched in that rough start has been the inconsistent play at quarterback.

Arizona came into the year with three different quarterbacks, and so far, none of them have excelled. However, after his 21-35, 233-yard passing and one touchdown to five-interception performance, McCloud will get another opportunity against UCLA as the starter.

Making news in his Monday press conference, head coach Jedd Fisch named McCloud as his starter for UCLA and stressed the importance for him in getting more reps, which McCloud has reportedly done in practice for the past week.

Beyond that, Arizona Football needs more consistency from Jordan McCloud and at the quarterback position.

If we learned anything in the Wildcats’ loss against Oregon, it is that McCloud has a lot of potential, but needs more growth and polishing.

In three of their first four games, Arizona has outgained its opponents on offense and has dominated the time of possession. Where the Wildcats have severely lacked is in getting into the end zone and converting in the red zone. Look no further than the game against Oregon, where McCloud threw three interceptions in scoring territory.

The hope is that by naming McCloud the starter, he is going to put the Wildcats in the best position to win. And hopefully, with continued repetition, those deficiencies and areas of weakness will be worked out and allow for the Wildcats to get more production on offense and more specifically at quarterback.
