Arizona Football: 2021 over for Jordan McCloud following injury
Despite a decent performance against UCLA and growing optimism with Arizona Football, Jordan McCloud is done in 2021 following his injury against UCLA.
It was a relatively good performance for Arizona Football quarterback Jordan McCloud in his start against the UCLA Bruins as he finished 21-30 passing with 182 yards passing and 21 yards rushing. However, it was all not as the former USF transfer suffered an injury late in the game.
Coming into the week, Arizona was fresh off a bye week, McCloud was more comfortable as he got more reps in practice leading up to the game, and for three quarters, the Wildcats looked competent too, trailing just 24-16.
However, a bad snap quickly changed the trajectory of the game and perhaps the rest of the season, when McCloud fielded the snap and took a gruesome sack.
The hit looked bad initially, especially as McCloud writhed in pain on the turf. Well, as it turns out, it is worse than we could have ever hoped or imagined.
Making news on Monday was that Jordan McCloud will miss the rest of the season for Arizona Football.
Following the Wildcats’ loss to UCLA on Saturday evening, head coach Jedd Fisch hinted that McCloud’s injury would likely be a long-term one, and on Monday, that was finally confirmed as the Wildcats’ signal-caller has suffered knee and ankle injuries that will likely require surgery.
While the extent of the injuries are not fully known, the expectation is that McCloud will be out for the rest of the season, and coach Fisch still expects him to rejoin the team sometime in the winter.
However, for now, the loss is a major one, and it comes at an inconvenient time for the Wildcats too as Arizona’s quarterback was beginning to find a nice rhythm with the offense.
Hopefully, Arizona can still get decent production at quarterback with McCloud out, and for the sake of the team’s prospects in winning, quarterback play is extremely vital.
