As Arizona Football nears the halfway point of the season, the Wildcats will now be without senior defensive lineman, JB Brown for the rest of 2021.

It has been a wild year in Tucson so far as the Wildcats have kicked off the Jedd Fisch era of Arizona Football. However, things haven’t quite gone the way many had hoped as the Wildcats have stumbled to an 0-5 (0-2) start, and now we’ve learned that the Wildcats will be without senior defensive lineman JB Brown for the rest of 2021.

Making news on Thursday afternoon was that Brown has decided to opt-out for the rest of the year, citing personal reasons.

The news comes at a tough time too, especially as the Wildcats are 0-5 on the year, own the nation’s longest, active losing streak at 17-straight games, and still seemingly have issues along the defensive line.

This isn’t a new thing either. For those maybe don’t recall, Brown also decided to opt-out of the entire 2020 season, but luckily came back for us this year.

Well, that could be the case again as head coach Jedd Fisch hinted that JB Brown could be back for Arizona Football in 2022.

Also making news with his decision to sit out the rest of 2021, Fisch said there’s a possibility Brown could return next year, as he has the option to use a redshirt. And as we’ve all seen this year, it is that Arizona could use all the help that they can get!

JB was originally a commit out of the 2017 recruiting class, and since he arrived in Tucson, he has appeared in 24 games, totaling 61 tackles (37 solo), 14.5 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks. In 2021, he still accumulated 8 tackles (3 solo) with 2.0 tackles for loss in four games.

Hopefully, JB can get his personal matters settled and return for a more prosperous 2022!
