Arizona Football has been rough to watch this year, and with the Wildcats having suffered several injuries, an increased role for Jamarye Joiner could be the key.

We’re are well beyond the halfway point of the season as the Wildcats are 0-7 (0-4) and still desperately looking for answers on the offensive side of the ball. And with Arizona Football having had several key injuries, perhaps we could be in store for an increased role from Jamarye Joiner.

There’s no secret that the Wildcats have had a myriad of struggles on offense, and it surely did not help missing Joiner for a few games either.

Now just a redshirt sophomore, the local wide receiver has had a slow come back as the team tries to reintegrate him as a focal point of the offense. However, his two catches for 15 yards and 30 yards rushing on five carries with a touchdown is a stark contrast from the 46 catches for 663 yards and six touchdowns he accounted for in the 2019 and 2020 seasons.

But with the Wildcats’ outlook on the offense being dire, Arizona Football could use the talents of Jamarye Joiner in an increased role for the rest of the season.

For those that maybe don’t recall, Jamarye initially was recruited as a quarterback/athlete, as he was a utility kind of player at Cienega High School in Southern Arizona. However, since his arrival to Tucson, the snaps have been limited.

With his experience and superior athleticism, the transition back to quarterback at least for the interim while Arizona still deals with injuries, make sense.

Again, this wouldn’t be a long-term option, but would give the Cats more looks on offense, especially if they were to mix things up and run an RPO (Run Pass Option) or a Wildcat offense instead of Pro-Style offense that’s implemented now.

For those disgruntled over the idea of Joiner taking any snaps, the Cats have yet to score 20 points in a single game on the season, and are in desperate need of a jolt, perhaps Joiner could provide that!
