Following their dominant win over then No. 4 ranked Michigan, Arizona Basketball enters this week ranked No. 17 in the AP Top 25 Poll.ย

It has been an exciting couple of weeks for Arizona Basketball as the Wildcats are fully entrenched in their 2021-22 season, and are off and running with a 5-0 record on the year so far.

Coming into the year, many knew that Arizona had talent, but this team was still largely a mystery as there were some lingering questions at a few key positions, and they also had a first-year head coach in Tommy Lloyd.

Naturally, the Wildcats began the year unranked but were considered to be a fringe, Top 25 team. However, as the season has progressed, it is clear that this is a pretty special group.

Winning their first three games by an average of 45 points, Arizona was seldom tested in those wins, and more importantly, it gave little indication of how good this group is.

Then this past weekend came, which finally gave this team its first, real test of the year.

Taking on Wichita State in game one of the Roman Main Event Tournament in Las Vegas, Arizona controlled much of that game until a horrible stretch of play caused the Wildcats to blow a 16-point lead and force overtime. Luckily, the Wildcats escaped with a win.

Then an even bigger test came for Arizona as the Wildcats had to square off with No. 4 Michigan in the Roman Main Event Final.

Dominating the game from start to finish, the Wildcats looked like the better team, and following their convincing, 18-point win over the Wolverines, it seemed destined Arizona would have the national respect they deserve.

So naturally, with Arizona Basketball playing well and still being undefeated at 5-0 on the year, the Wildcats finally cracked the Top 25 list this week.

There are not many basketball teams in the country that had better weeks than the Wildcats did this past week, and following their wins over Wichita State and Michigan, Arizona finally entered the AP Top 25 poll as the No. 17 team.

Announcing the Top 25 ranking via social media, the news is great for Arizona, and while it may not be too shocking for us, it could be a sign of things to come!

This team is gelling and buying into what coach Lloyd is preaching and coaching, and as a result, the product on the court is clearly showing! Even better is that the team seems to be unnerved by the attention and is still focused on a greater goal at hand.
