Following a terrific week, Arizona Basketball wing Ben Mathurin was selected as the Pac-12 Player of the Week after a huge game against Oregon State.

Arizona Basketball might have only played one game this past week but it was still a huge week for sophomore wing Ben Mathurin, as the Canadian native earned Pac-12 Player of the Week honors.

A distinction that was announced on Monday afternoon, Mathurin was named Conference Player of the Week after his game against Oregon State on Sunday afternoon.

Playing in Corvallis, which is seemingly becoming Ben’s home away from home, he was once again instrumental in the Wildcats’ dominant win over the Beavers.

Leading all scorers with 29 points on 11-18 shooting, including 4-9 from beyond the arc, Ben also finished with six rebounds, an assist, and a steal. Arizona went on to win 90-65 over Oregon State.

For those that don’t remember, Ben also had a huge game in Corvallis last year, finishing with a career-high 31 points while also grabbing eight rebounds. The Wildcats won that game 98-64.

Ben Mathurin was named Pac-12 Player of the Week for this first time, and he joins fellow Arizona Basketball star Christian Koloko who won it two weeks ago.

Big things are brewing in Tucson and first-year head coach Tommy Lloyd is a big reason for that. He has the Wildcats playing great basketball in the early part of the season, and while this team has adopted an unselfish brand of basketball, Ben is the star.

A slightly underrated player who surprised many last season, Ben is having a huge sophomore campaign as the former NBA Academy Latin America wing is averaging 16.0 points and 6.1 rebounds on 45.3 percent field goal shooting, including 34.1 percent from three.

Mathurin and the Wildcats will return to action on Wednesday when they take on undefeated Wyoming (8-0) inside McKale Center before capping their week off on Saturday against Illinois in Champaign.
