Following another perfect week in which the Wildcats beat Illinois and manhandled Wyoming, Arizona Basketball moves up to No. 8 in the AP Top 25 poll.
It was a huge week for Arizona Basketball last week as early on, the Wildcats faced a fairly big challenge against previously unbeaten Wyoming. After manhandling the Cowboys in McKale, Arizona then traveled to Champaign, outlasting a talented Illini team to remain unbeaten. Well, as a result, the Wildcats have moved up once again in the AP Top 25 poll.
Making news via social media on Monday afternoon, it was announced that Arizona has moved up in the latest AP Top 25 Poll. Entering this week at No. 8, the Wildcats are up from No. 11 the week prior.

Now 9-0 (1-0) on the year, Arizona head coach Tommy Lloyd has the Wildcats playing very well, and in some ways are even exceeding expectations. As you may recall, Arizona entered the year on the outside, looking in at the Top 25.
Well, fast forward to December, and already there are talks of the Cats is one of the better teams in the country. With marquee wins over Illinois, Wichita State, and then No. 4 ranked Michigan, Arizona is off to a hot start with a chance to improve their resume even more.
So with Arizona Basketball now up to No. 8 in the latest AP Top 25 poll, this is the Wildcats’ highest ranking since 2018-19.
While Arizona has been on a roll so far this season, so have a few others. At 9-0 (1-0), the Wildcats are just one of seven unbeaten teams remaining in the country, and beyond that, they are also one of three teams in the Pac-12 that are ranked. UCLA is No. 4, while fellow unbeaten USC is No. 10 in the country.
Arizona has a great opportunity to improve its standing moving forward too, as the Wildcats have marquee games against No. 18 Tennessee (Dec. 22), No. 4 UCLA (Dec. 30), and No. 10 USC (Jan. 3).
Either way, seeing the Wildcats excel this early in the season is a great thing to see, and we hope the Cats can continue to play well!
