Wazzu QB Jayden de Laura transferring to Arizona Football
Continuing to build out their roster for 2022, Arizona Football has now added Washington State transfer quarterback, Jayden de Laura.
Arizona Football and Jedd Fisch have been making major moves this off-season, and after signing a current Top 25 recruiting class for 2022, the Wildcats have added another key transfer, this time it is Wazzu quarterback, Jayden de Laura.
For those that have been following the whirlwind of recruiting action over the past few weeks, the Wildcats have been making a lot of significant moves this off-season both on the recruiting trail and in the transfer portal.
And while the Wildcats have been extremely successful; however, their biggest glaring need has still been trying to nab another quarterback for the 2022 season.
While the options at quarterback in the transfer portal have been plentiful, over the past couple of weeks, the Wildcats were either unsuccessful in their recruiting efforts or were being incredibly selective.
Well, luckily with the recent movement at Washington State, Jayden became available via the transfer portal in recent days, and the Wildcats wasted no time in capitalizing.
Receiving a commitment from Jayden de Laura on Monday evening the Wazzu quarterback will be playing with Arizona Football in 2022.
Making his announcement via social media on Monday evening, Jayden is the type of quarterback that the Wildcats desperately needed this off-season.
Coming in, Jayden is likely the presumptive starter for the Wildcats at quarterback, and he is coming off a huge season in which he threw for 2,802 yards and 23 touchdowns to just nine interceptions on 229 of 360 passing (63.6 percent) en route to being named the Pac-12’s Offensive Freshman of the Year with the Cougars.
Jayden possesses the arm talent and ability to make this offense click, and with the offensive weapons he will have in 2022, Arizona could be a surprise team next year if all goes well.
Here are some highlights of de Laura against our Wildcats this past season in which he threw for a career-high 259 yards and four touchdowns.
