After not making an NFL Roster after a few attempts, former Wildcat Khalil Tate will instead take his talents to play professionally in Canada.

From 2016-19, Khalil Tate was one hell of a player while at Arizona, amassing 6,318 passing yards, 57 touchdowns, and 31 interceptions passing, he also rushed for 2,285 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns over 40 career games from 2016-19

However, since leaving the University of Arizona, Khalil has been trying to find a more permanent home to continue to play football.

For those that didn’t know, Khalil technically signed with the Philadelphia Eagles twice as a free agent, unfortunately, both stints were unsuccessful.

Khalil first signed with Philadelphia in 2020, but with COVID just breaking out at that time, teams had rules and restrictions on the number of practice players they could have, so Tate was cut.

Re-signing with the Eagles again in 2021, Tate tried converting to a wide receiver; however, it was unsuccessful, and the former Wildcat did not stay with the team through the summer.

Well, after some time away from the sport, Khalil Tate has finally found a new home, signing with the Edmonton Elks in the Canadian Football League.

The news of Tate’s signing was announced yesterday evening by the Canadian Football League and its club team, the Edmonton Elks (formerly the Edmonton Eskimos).

After some time away from the sport, the 6-foot, 215-pound quarterback will now be getting his shot to be a professional quarterback, and coincidentally, he joins fellow Wildcats Shaq Richardson (Toronto Argonauts) and Ka’Deem Carey (Calgary Stampeders) who are also in the CFL.

At Arizona, Tate always showed potential, but under then-head coach Kevin Sumlin, it seemed as if there was a disconnect. And that player that once had one of the best stretches for an Arizona Football player, couldn’t seem to sustain or replicate that success from October 2017.

Either way, we are excited to see Khalil get an opportunity and cannot wait to see what he can do. Here’s just a small reminder of what kind of talent he is!
