Pair of Arizona Women’s Basketball commits named McDonald’s All-Americans
With Adia Barnes and Arizona Women’s Basketball finding success on the recruiting trail, a pair of Wildcat commits were named McDonald’s All-Americans.
Adia Barnes has been on a terror since taking over the Arizona Women’s Basketball program back in 2016, building the Wildcats’ basketball program into a respectable one, and a regular contender nationally.
A program that went 102–147 under previous head coach Niya Butts, Barnes has slowly been building the Wildcats year after year, and once again she has an Arizona squad that is primed for another deep tournament run.
However, the journey in getting the Wildcats where they need to be hasn’t been easy. Adia has had to work hard on the recruiting trail bringing in several key players to turn around the Arizona program, and credit goes to her for the hard work.
For 2022, the Wildcats have one of the best-recruiting classes in the country coming in with Maya Nnaji (the No. 9 player in the class), Paris Clark (the No. 21 player in the class), Kailyn Gilbert (the No. 31 player in the class), and Lemyah Hylton (the No. 84 player in the class) all currently committed.
And better yet for Arizona Women’s Basketball and Adia Barnes, Maya Nnaji and Paris Clark have been named McDonald’s All-Americans.
Just as Arizona Women’s Basketball is preparing for their big week against UCLA and the Bay Area schools, making news on Tuesday afternoon was Paris and Maya being named to the 2022 squad.
A distinction that is always a big deal for any aspiring college athlete, Paris and Maya are the first Wildcats since Cate Reese to be named to the McDonald’s All-American team. Cate was was the first-ever Arizona Women’s Basketball player that was a McDonald’s All-American.
The game is currently set for March 29, 2022, and will be hosted in Chicago, it should provide great exposure for the Wildcats’ program. Either way, we are excited for Maya and Paris and can’t wait to see what our Wildcats can do on the big stage!
