Following an up and down week for Arizona Basketball, the Wildcats fell to No. 7 in the latest AP Top 25 Poll that was released on Monday afternoon.

Arizona Basketball has been on a roll this season in Tommy Lloyd’s first year as head coach. The Wildcats are currently 17-2 (7-1) on the year, picking up marquee wins against then No. 5 Michigan, Illinois, and Wichita State among others.

However, as impressive as the Wildcats have been this season, they have been seldom challenged, and they still have quite a few tough challenges ahead with No. 3 UCLA, No. 19 UCLA, and Oregon all looming. And this past week was a clear indication of that.

Facing one of their biggest weeks yet, it was a bit of a roller coaster for Arizona as the Wildcats began the week, falling to then No. 7 ranked UCLA by 16 points on Tuesday evening.

Arizona then followed that up by beating rival Arizona State in a grind-it-out win on Saturday afternoon that wasn’t necessarily the prettiest of performances.

And following their up and down week, Arizona Basketball has fallen to No. 7 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 rankings.

Making news on Monday afternoon, the Associated Press released their latest Top 25 poll, and coming in at No. 7 on the list was our Wildcats.

Also joining Arizona from the Pac-12 Conference was UCLA (No. 3) and USC (No. 19), while Oregon received several votes yet again, this despite losing to Colorado, but also beating rival Oregon State.

So, with the Wildcats now ranking No. 7 in the country, they will have to stay focused this week as they take on UCLA, this just days after losing to Bruins on the road.

Arizona will follow up that game by playing No. 19 USC on Saturday afternoon!

The challenge won’t be an easy one, but the Wildcats will need to be ready if they are to win. Should the Wildcats take care of business, Arizona can easily move up to that No. 3 ranking again!
