As Arizona Basketball prepares for the 2022 NCAA Tournament, the key to success for the Wildcats is taking things ‘one game at a time’.

Arizona Basketball is rolling, and that is exactly what you want this time of year from your team, especially as the NCAA Tournament action begins.

Coming in, the Wildcats are winners of the regular-season conference title, the Conference Tournament title, and are the No. 2 seed overall in the NCAA Tournament.

However, now the real test begins, as the success from the regular season doesn’t change anything heading into the Tournament. It is win or go home now, and the Wildcats are going to be taking things one game at a time.

“It’s 0-0, us against Wright State or Bryant, and we’re going to go for it,” head coach Tommy Lloyd said during his Sunday press conference.

Heading into the weekend, Arizona Basketball is still unsure who they will play, but the conference tournament at least helped prepare them a little.

“You handle it the same way you would have handled the Stanford-ASU situation,” Lloyd said. “You kind of prepare for both teams.”

And right now, Arizona has the luxury of playing on Friday and using that extra day of rest to get guys healthy, and in particular, Kerr Kriisa, who is still nursing the ankle injury that he suffered against Stanford.

However, with the NCAA Tournament action already beginning, the Wildcats are going to be focusing on the job at hand. “We’re going to look at these as a four-team tournament and obviously we’re a five-team tournament with the play-in game and once that’s settled it will be down to four teams… we want to try to be the last one standing,” Lloyd said.

With Arizona being so heavily favored entering the tournament, they aren’t taking anything for granted, especially as the Wildcats open against either No. 16 Wright State or Bryant. Lloyd’s message is clear, “we’re in attack mode.”
