With the season now over for Tommy Lloyd and Arizona Basketball, the Wildcats exceeded expectations in year one, and show a promising future ahead.

What a hell of a year it was for Arizona Basketball. The Wildcats began the season just outside the medias’ Top 25 preseason ranking and coming into the year, expectations were a bit mixed, especially as Tommy Lloyd entered his first season as head coach.

Beyond that, coach Lloyd took over a young team with no postseason experience, and that also quietly bowed out to end the year the season prior with the self-imposed postseason ban.

However, Arizona was impressive, winning 33 games en route to a regular-season Pac-12 Championship, a Pac-12 Conference Tournament Championship, and also earning the No. 1 seed in the South Region of the NCAA Tournament.

Needless to say, calling this season anything but a success would be a massive understatement, especially when you factor in the expectations heading into the year.

Sure, Arizona Basketball still did not make the elusive Final Four, but Coach Lloyd did a masterful job coaching, and the team was fun to watch again.

This season was certainly a joy to watch as the Wildcats played with a youthful exuberance en route to their success. And it is safe to say that Coach Lloyd and Arizona have set the tone in year one.

Right now, there are still a myriad of questions to answer heading into next season, like what this roster will look like, and what kind of sanctions Arizona could be facing from the NCAA.

However, one thing that we do know is that the style and brand of basketball in which the Wildcats play will likely remain consistent, especially with Lloyd in charge.

The team plays unselfishly, the offense is free-flowing, and the team likes to get out and run. With the talent they return as well as have coming in, the future is very bright, and year one only showed a glimpse of what could be in store for the Wildcats’ future!
