Former Wildcat Gabe York signs two-way contract with Pacers
The 2021-22 NBA season may be coming to a close; however, things aren’t slowing down for former Wildcat Gabe York as he has signed a two-way contract.
The NBA regular season may be winding down, but things are just heating up for former Arizona Basketball star Gabe York, as our beloved Wildcat is getting another crack at the NBA.
Making news via social media on Thursday morning, ESPN Senior NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski announced that the former Wildcat was converted to a two-way contract with the Indiana Pacers.
For those that recall, Gabe was supposed to get a chance with the Orlando Magic back in December, but shortly after signing his 10-day contract, Gabe entered Covid protocols, and never truly got his short.
Well once again, Gabe is getting another chance as he leaves behind the Ft. Wayne Mad Ants. And for York, this has been a long time coming, as the former Wildcat has previously spent the last five years playing in Europe, Israel, and in the G-League.
With the NBA Season wrapping up, the Indiana Pacers are finally going to give Gabe York his opportunity to make an impact with the team.
So far this season, Gabe is proving that experience matters in this league. In his 34 games played with the Indiana Pacers’ G-League affiliate team, he is averaging 21.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 2.4 steals per game. Now he will get a chance to step up and prove his worth.
Granted there is no guarantee that Gabe will even get a significant amount of playing time; however, the opportunity is at least there, which is more than he can say that he’s had before.
Should all go well, he could possibly see minutes in the final two games for the Pacers, and he is yet another Wildcat that has been pulled up.
As you may recall, Stanley Johnson signed a deal with the Lakers, while former Wildcat Brandon Williams has been on a roll since joining the Portland Trail Blazers.
