PHILADELPHIA, PA – Making his debut against the Philadelphia 76ers, former Wildcat Gabe York earned the game ball in Indiana’s 133-120 loss.

It has been a long time coming, but finally, the former Wildcat Gabe York has made his NBA debut, appearing with the Indiana Pacers on Saturday evening as the team took on the Philadelphia 76ers.

As you may recall, Gabe was supposed to get a chance with the Orlando Magic back in December, but shortly after signing his 10-day contract back then, Gabe entered Covid protocols shortly after, never truly getting his shot in the NBA.

Well, just days ago, Gabe was given yet another opportunity, as it was announced that Gabe was converted to a two-way contract with the Indiana Pacers to finish out the year.

Years spent competing in the G-League, Europe, and Israel had all culminated at this moment, finally playing in an NBA game.

On Saturday evening, former Wildcat Gabe York made his NBA debut against the Philadelphia 76ers, even earning the game ball in the teams’ loss.

Losing is never fun, and on Saturday evening the Pacers, who are now near the bottom of the league at 25-57, lost to the 4th-seeded 76ers by 133-120 final.

NBA superstar Joel Embiid finished his evening with 41 points and 20 rebounds, while James Harden checked in, finishing with a casual 22 points and 14 assists.

However, one of the bigger stories of the evening was the play of York. Now 28, Gabe came off the bench for Indiana, playing nearly 15 minutes, scoring seven points on 2-5 shooting, including 2-3 from the charity stripe. Gabe would also dish two assists as well as grab a rebound.

Despite the team’s loss, Gabe would earn the game ball from the Pacers for making his NBA Debut.

Gabe followed that game up with a one-point, two assists, and two steal performance in six minutes played in a 134-126 loss to the Brooklyn Nets.

Where does Gabe York go from here?

Well, the NBA regular season is finally over and the Pacers did not make the playoffs which effectively ends Gabe’s season.

Now comes the long off-season where he will look to build off his success, and hopefully be in a position to be back here next season.
