Adding a late piece to the recruiting class of 2022, Tommy Lloyd and Arizona Basketball received a commitment from 2022 Serbian guard, Filip Borovicanin.

While things have been somewhat quiet on the recruiting trail for Arizona Basketball this off-season, that doesn’t mean that Coach Tommy Lloyd and staff haven’t been busy working.

Making news via social media on Tuesday afternoon, Lloyd aka “The International Whisper”, secured a surprise commitment from Serbian combo guard/wing, Filip Borovicanin.

A bit of an under-the-radar recruit in the class of 2022, Borovicanin played for Beko in the Serbian 3rd Division this past year, and picked the Wildcats over offers from Texas Tech, and ironically enough Sean Miller and Xavier.

Joining Arizona Basketball for 2022-23, Filip Borovicanin should be an immediate impact player that will help bolster the Wildcats’ roster.

In the past couple of weeks, Arizona has already lost Bennedict Mathurin and Christian Koloko to the NBA Draft, as well as Justin Kier to graduation. And coming into this off-season, it was clear that the Wildcats needed another wing (preferably one that can shoot and handle the basketball). Luckily for us, Filip fits that mold!

Coming in at 6-feet-8-inches, Filip is a bit of an intriguing prospect, and despite not much being known about him, he is a kid with tremendous length and athleticism.

He plays basketball with a high IQ, he can score at all three levels, he possesses an excellent jumper that extends well beyond the arc, and his length allows him to create mismatches on offense.

He should be the perfect complement to this roster, and his addition helps to balance out a group that needed more shooters.

Should Arizona return Dalen Terry, Adama Bal, and Pelle Larsson, this is a group that will be much deeper and more talented.

Here’s just a quick look at our latest Wildcat!
