Azuolas Tubelis to return to Arizona Basketball in 2022-23
With the off-season action heating up for Arizona Basketball, Azuolas Tubelis has announced that he is coming back for 2022-23.
It has been just a couple of weeks since the 2021-22 season ended, and already head coach Tommy Lloyd and Arizona Basketball have been staying busy dealing with significant roster changes.
Well, on Wednesday afternoon, more changes were announced as it was made known that star forward Azuolas Tubelis will be returning to the Wildcats in 2022-23.

Selfishly, this is a huge move that should help the Wildcats immensely next season; however, it wasn’t guaranteed either. Even though Tubelis was a bit inconsistent, there was the belief that he could still turn pro, after all, he was the Wildcats’ second-leading scorer this past year, and was a Conference First-Team All Pac-12 Selection.
Well, luckily for us, Azuolas Tubelis returns in 2022-23, and he should be poised for a potentially huge season with Arizona Basketball.
Since coming to Tucson, Tubelis has been a staple for the Wildcats, making big plays and being a consistent focal point of this team.
However, even despite his success, it seemed as if things were a bit off at times this past season, especially as he got to the NCAA Tournament.
Perhaps he was still trying to find his role in the new offense, or maybe it was nagging injuries that caught up with him, but overall, it seemed as if something was missing.
Well, to our delight, Tubelis will return, and that is a great thing for Arizona Basketball!
Coming in, the Wildcats are one of the early favorites to contend for the Conference Championship, and his return should help solidify what is shaping up to be a solid group. At the forefront of that should be Tubelis.
In 2022-23, Tubelis is going to be a junior with another year under his belt, and another year under Coach Lloyd. Should Azuolas focus on improving this off-season, and he is going to potentially have a huge year next season!
