Arizona Football may be poised to surpass ASU in 2022
Already months into the long and arduous off-season, the Arizona Football and ASU Football programs are seemingly trending in opposite directions.
Being a fan of Arizona Football has been rough these past few years. The Wildcats have won just a handful of games, and the program has arguably endured its worst stretch of football in program history.
Well, luckily for us, brighter days seem to be just ahead!
If we have learned anything this off-season, it is that Arizona has had one of their best stretches as a program in recent history, and the recent recruiting moves are giving fans a newfound sense of encouragement.
To recap, here are some things that have happened in the past few months…
- Arizona signed a Top 25 recruiting, the 3rd overall best-recruiting class in the conference for 2022.
- They added key transfers in Jayden de Laura, Jacob Cowing, Hunter Echols, and Tiaoalii Savea among others.
- Arizona is already off to a great start for 2023 as the Wildcats currently have the No. 31 overall recruiting class (according to 247Sports).
- The Wildcats have also made some facility improvements.
Now, while no one is expecting a drastic change overnight; however, it does appear that Arizona is finally trending in the right direction. And once again, the Wildcats should have a competent and competitive group shortly!
Adversely, just north of us, those guys up in Tempe seem to be going through it as Arizona Football and ASU are trending in very different directions.
For those that maybe didn’t know, the Sun Devils are still embroiled in a controversy that has yet to have been resolved. ASU is still feeling the effects of hosting illegal recruiting visits that were taken during the height of the Covid pandemic.
Beyond that, there have been several coaching departures, as well as a myriad of key transfers leaving, most notably quarterback Jayden Daniels.
Well, on Thursday, two more key departures were announced as ASU linebacker Eric Gentry and receiver Ricky Pearsall entered the transfer portal.
The hits just keep coming for ASU, meanwhile, Arizona continues to experience one of their best off-seasons ever.
While it still may be a bit too early to say how the Wildcats will be next season; however, it is clear that these two programs are trending in opposite directions quickly, and we are all enjoying it!
