TUCSON, AZ – Despite falling in game two, Arizona Baseball (28-13, 13-8) rebounded in a big way, whipping ASU (20-21, 9-9) 14-4 to win the overall series.

Despite losing to ASU in game two of the series on Saturday evening, Arizona Baseball returned to action on Sunday afternoon for an important game three in conclusion against the Sun Devils. Luckily, the Wildcats came out swinging, earning the eventual 14-4 win.

Turning to their ace Garrett “Gary” Irvin in their Sunday showdown, the Wildcats’ hurler was spectacular in this one, throwing six masterful innings, meanwhile surrendering just three runs on six hits while striking out two ASU batters.

He would eventually be relieved by Chris Barraza, Javyn Pimental, and Quinn Flanagan, who were all spectacular as well. The Wildcats’ trio would combine for three innings pitched, surrendering just one run on fives hits, successfully shutting down the Devils’ defense.

However, the bigger story of the Wildcats’ day was their offense. Arizona started this one hot, plating six runs in the first three innings, and blew the doors off in the seventh inning when they plated seven more runs, taking complete advantage of the errors committed by the Devils.

Playing well from start to finish, Arizona Baseball would come up big at the plate and on the mound, earning the 14-4 win and overall series victory.

Coming into this game fresh off a loss to ASU, Arizona would jump out to a quick start in this one when Daniel Susac homered to left field scoring Tanner O’Tremba in the first inning to make it 2-0 Cats. And luckily, the offensive production wouldn’t stop there either.

Arizona would have a hot third inning, using a few more timely hits to plate four more runs in the inning to make it 6-0 in favor of the Cats.

However, the Wildcats would outdo themselves in the seventh inning when they plated seven more runs in the inning to take a 14-3 advantage. Arizona would capitalize on a few key ASU errors to take complete control of the game.

ASU would get a run back in the top of the eighth to make it 14-4, but the damage had already been done as Arizona would cruise to the 14-4 win, taking the overall series win!

Where does Arizona Baseball go from here?

With the win, Arizona improves to 28-13 (13-8) on the year and will return to action on Tuesday evening when they take on New Mexico State for a mid-week tilt against the Aggies in Las Cruces, NM. First pitch is set for 5:00 P.M.
