Despite not getting drafted, former Wildcat Stanley Berryhill III has found a home, signing a free-agent deal with the Atlanta Falcons.

Once again, it was an NFL Draft to forget for Arizona Football, as for the fifth time in 10 years, the Wildcats were shut out in the Draft. Luckily, it wasn’t all bad as Stanley Berryhill III signed a free-agent deal with the Atlanta Falcons.

Shortly after the draft had concluded, making news via social media was that Berryhill had signed a free-agent deal with the Falcons.

Stanley came to Arizona a few years ago as a walk-on, and now, it is only fitting that he should find himself at similar odds in trying to make the Falcons’ roster.

Berry hill joins Atlanta after a stellar career at Arizona in which he appeared in 37 games amassing 1,477 yards and nine touchdowns on 139 receptions. This despite being with a program that finished 10-31 during his career.

Joining the Atlanta Falcons, former Wildcat Stanley Berryhill III will have a great opportunity to prove himself.

Berryhill is fresh off a stellar season in which he finished with 83 catches for 749 yards and a touchdown. However, Stanley also proved himself to be incredibly valuable as a utility player as he rushed for 121 yards on 19 carries and returned 18 punts for 156 yards.

So, with Atlanta already drafting USC’s Drake London and having players like Kyle Pitts and Calvin Ridley returning, the road in getting on with the team could be a daunting one.

Luckily, Berryhill is good at multiple things, and perhaps his opportunity will first be as a special teams player.

Here was Stanley’s scouting report from Sports Illustrated back in early April!

"Pros:Uses hands to catch the ball, will attack and work back to the quarterback. Not a burner, but Berryhill is a vertical threat in schemes thanks to his yard after the catchability. He is a strong runner, running with balance and stiff arms to pick up extra yards. Short area quickness is valid, as represented by yardage in the screen game. Has a knack for the endzone when he has space. Aligned as both an x and f receiver.Cons:Not an extremely big or twitchy athlete with only adequate true speed. Can struggle against press corners or man-to-man coverage in general. Will need to become better in the nuance of his game, as he does not run a variety of routes, leaving much to be desired in terms of hand usage and footwork. Was good as a primary receiver, but not an excessive amount of snaps against number one corners."

Either way, we are excited for Stanley and are hopeful that he makes the roster, after all, he beats the odds and proved himself to be a worthy collegiate player.
