BIRMINGHAM, AL – Already three weeks through the inaugural USFL season, former Wildcat Scooby Wright had a big day in Birmingham’s win.

The 2022 USFL season is off and running, and already it seems to be a hit just three weeks into the young season. Luckily for us, that means more football action from our beloved former Wildcat, Scooby Wright.

We already know his story of how he was drafted late in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns, and he spent just a handful of seasons in the league, before bouncing around in the now-defunct AAF and XFL leagues.

Well, Wright is now into week three of the USFL season, and the former Wildcat continues to make a name for himself as a big-time playmaker.

On Saturday, Scooby Wright led his team in tackles, wreaking havoc in the opposing backfield en route to Birmingham’s win.

Fresh off a win against the Houston Gamblers (coached by Kevin Sumlin) the week prior, Wright and Co. returned to action to face off against the New Orleans Breakers on Saturday evening.

Once again, in front of a decent-sized crowd, the Stallions looked like a strong group, trading scores for much of the game.

Granted, the offense was a bit stagnant, totaling just 313 yards and two touchdowns with an interception; however, stealing the show was the impressive play of the defense, and in particular, Scooby.

Making plays at linebacker as he did at Arizona, Scooby would finish his evening with a game-high 17 tackles (eight solo), with a pass deflection and a key forced fumble on the goal line.

Because of Wright’s play, the Stallions were able to remain perfect on the season, coming away with the 22-13 win against the Breakers.

Birmingham will return to action next Saturday when they take on the Tampa Bay Bandits. Game time is currently set for 4:00 PM EST and will be televised on Fox.

Here are highlights from the Stallions’ Saturday win!
