Returning to action after falling to last-placed USC, Arizona Baseball (33-17, 14-10) takes on No. 2 Oregon State (39-9, 18-6) for an important Pac-12 series.

This is a huge weekend for Arizona Baseball as the Wildcats finally return to action to take on No. 2 Oregon State for an important conference series.

Coming in, the Wildcats will have their toughest challenge yet as they face a talented Beavers squad that is currently on a seven-game winning streak. On the flip side of that, the Wildcats have been floundering, despite starting the year hot, the Cats are just 12-10 over the past month.

Now, while Arizona has played well against top-tier competition, they are going to need to bring their A-game in this one, and it starts on the mound.

However, a lot of the struggles the Wildcats have had this year have been on the mound. Arizona has been inconsistent while on the bump, compiling just a 4.44 ERA as they have allowed teams to hit a respectable .261 from the plate with 449 hits and 31 home runs.

Offensively, the Wildcats have been inconsistent as well. While Arizona has plenty of firepower, against USC they were abysmal, combining for just eight runs in three days. If the Wildcats are to win this weekend, they HAVE to give a better effort!

With that said, here’s a look at Arizona’s upcoming opponent.

Getting to Know the details of Arizona Baseball’s opponent, the Oregon State Beavers.

Team: Oregon State Beavers

Head Coach: Mitch Canham is currently in his third season as skipper of the Beavers after taking over for Pat Casey Pat Bailey. Mitch is a former player from Oregon State that has compiled an 81-42 (34–20) record so far. Before joining Oregon State, Mitch coached in the Minor Leagues from 2016-19.

2021-22 Record: The Beavers are currently 39-9 (18-6) on the year and are currently on a seven-game winning streak. They sit atop the Pac-12 standings comfortably and are the best team in the conference for a reason. The Beavers are truly one of the best teams in College Baseball this season.

Head-to-head Series: This series has been a pretty even one with it currently being tied at 40-40, with games dating back to 1963.

Last Meeting: The last time these two teams met was in Corvallis last year, where the Wildcats won two of three against the Beavers.
