OAKLAND, CA – Making his Major League debut, former Wildcat Chase Silseth shined as the Los Angeles Angels defeated Oakland, 2-0.

Nearly one year ago, former Wildcat Chase Silseth was pitching for Arizona Baseball as the Wildcats competed in Omaha at the College World Series.

Well, fast forward a few months and Chase is now a former 11th-round draft pick of the 2021 MLB Draft that has had a steady and meteoric rise in baseball, climbing up the ranks into the Major Leagues.

And just one day after being called up by the Los Angeles Angels, Chase made his highly-anticipated debut as he and the Angels took on conference rival, the Oakland Athletics.

Getting the nod in game one of the three-game series, the 21-year-old right-hander certainly didn’t disappoint, showing off his dominant form like we regularly saw in Tucson.

Dazzling fans with his poise and control, Chase Silseth threw six stellar innings en route to earning his first major league win.

He may not make very many appearances in the Majors this year; however, Chase didn’t squander his opportunity here as he was dominant from the start.

Pitching six stellar innings, Chase threw just 81 pitches (52 strikes) on Friday evening, all en route to holding the Athletics to just one hit and zero runs. He also struck out four Oakland batters.

With the dominant performance, Chase earned his first Major League win and improves to 1-0 on the season and he joins rare territory too. Following his outing, Chase became just the second pitcher in franchise history to have a similar performance.

However, the question now is what will happen next for the former Wildcat. The Angels currently use a six-man rotation and there is a belief that he could unfortunately be the odd man out.

That means Chase could either go back down with their Double-A affiliate the Rocket City Trash Pandas, or he could be moved to their Triple-A team, the Salt Lake City Bees.

For now, we can celebrate Chase’s dominant performance, and hope to see many more in the future!

Here’s a little recap from his Major League Debut!
