With Arizona Basketball still making moves on the recruiting trail for 2022, the Wildcats are in the running for Wazzu transfer, Efe Abogidi.

The off-season is well underway for Arizona Basketball, and so far the Wildcats have been staying busy on the recruiting trail as they try to fill some of the gaps in their roster for 2022-23. And so far, one of their key targets this off-season has been Wazzu transfer, Efe Abogidi.

A 6-foot-10 junior that hails from Nigeria, the Cougars’ forward initially decided to transfer from Washington State just a few weeks ago, and on Tuesday afternoon, FanDuel’s Jon Rothstein broke the news that Efe had finally trimmed his enormous list to just three schools.

To our delight, Arizona made the cut for Efe along with Florida and Maryland. Of course, there is still reportedly a possibility that Abogidi returns to Washington State next season as well.

However, with Arizona Basketball still being in the recruitment for Efe Abogidi, this is a big deal for Tommy Lloyd and the Wildcats!

It is no secret that Christian Koloko’s departure leaves the Wildcats with a huge hole for 2022-23, so naturally, it makes sense why Arizona is targeting the Washington State transfer.

For those that don’t know, Efe was a big part of Wazzu’s success the past two seasons as he started in 56 of 64 games for the Cougars, averaging a respectable 8.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks for the 2021-22 season.

Now, should he come to Tucson, he would provide immediate depth at the 4/5 position as Azuolas Tubelis and Oumar Ballo return along with the addition of Dylan Anderson. And his proven shot blocking ability, he would be a perfect replacement for Koloko.

The Wildcats also have the international whisperer in Lloyd who could help sell the Wildcats’ vision, but now it is up to Arizona if they can sell him on being a key role player for a team that could make another big splash next season.

Either way, we should find out in the next couple of weeks, and the talent Efe brings to the table is certainly tempting!
