Fresh off a sweep at the hands of Oregon (35-21, 18-12), Arizona Baseball (35-21, 16-14) returns to action as they take on the Ducks again.

Arizona Baseball finds itself in a rather tough and unfortunate position. Despite beating then No. 2 ranked Oregon State two weeks ago and virtually being on top of the world, Arizona followed that series up by being swept by the Oregon Ducks last weekend.

Coming in, the Wildcats enter the Pac-12 Tournament action more or less in a must-win situation, and the challenge doesn’t get any easier as they take on the Ducks again in what should be an eventful rematch.

Last weekend, Arizona’s bats were rather quiet, so in this rematch, Arizona will need to be ready to go in this one if they are to keep pace with the high-powered Oregon Ducks.

On the flip side of that, Arizona will need a better effort on the mound if they are to win this game. In games two and three last weekend, the Wildcats were respectable, surrendering just nine combined runs. But as the stakes get higher, Arizona will need to be ready to battle in this one if they are to win!

With that said, here’s a look at the Wildcats’ upcoming opponent.

Getting to Know the details of Arizona Baseball’s opponent, the Oregon Ducks.

Team: Oregon Ducks

Head Coach: Mark Wasikowski is currently in his 3rd season as skipper of the Ducks, having compiled an 82–44 record with their lone NCAA Tournament appearance coming last year. However, at 35-21 this season, Oregon is in a great position to return to the postseason once again.

Overall, Mark has been in baseball for quite some time, having made stops at several collegiate programs including Arizona (2002-11) before becoming a head coach at Purdue in 2017, and eventually becoming the head coach at Oregon in 2020. Mark is 169-126 overall as a head coach.

2021-22 Record: The Ducks are currently 35-21 (18-12) on the year and playing some of their best baseball. Oregon has won five-straight games, three of which came against the Wildcats last weekend to cap off the Pac-12 regular season. Oregon has a great opportunity at making the NCAA Tournament this year.

Head-to-head Series: Arizona leads the overall series against Oregon by a 28-18-1 advantage, with games dating back to 1954.

Last Meeting: The last time these two teams met, was last weekend when the Wildcats were swept in Eugene, losing all three games by a combined score of 19-10.
