Arizona Football adds Florida State RB transfer, DJ Williams
Continuing to add pieces for the 2022 season, Arizona Football has added a key transfer in former Florida State running back, DJ Williams.
The 2022 Arizona Football season may just be around the corner, but that isn’t stopping Jedd Fisch and the Wildcats from adding more pieces to its roster for the upcoming season.
Making news on Tuesday afternoon, the Wildcats have picked up a late, key transfer in former Florida State running back, DJ Williams.
Announcing his commitment via social media, the addition of DJ is a last-minute pick-up for the Cats, and boy is he a solid addition!
Joining a deep running back room, DJ comes in as a graduate transfer that made previous stops at Auburn and most recently Florida State. His experience and veteran leadership will surely be welcomed to a group that could use a bit more competition.
Likely to be eligible for this season, Arizona Football will have another offensive weapon with the addition of DJ Williams.
Williams is the nephew of NFL Hall of Fame running back Edgerrin James, and his addition gives the Wildcats seven scholarship running backs for next season.
The addition of Williams comes as no surprise to fans that followed the team last season. Unfortunately, no one stood out at running back last year, and so far for 2022, the running back position is ripe for the picking. Look for DJ to possibly make an immediate impact!
DJ is a 5-foot-10, 205-pound running back that spent the 2021 season with FSU despite beginning his career at Auburn, and for those that don’t know, Williams is a former 4-star recruit, so the talent is there.
This past season, William rushed for 47 yards on 10 carries with one touchdown with the Seminoles. But before that, DJ ran for 599 yards on 122 carries with five touchdowns while at Auburn.
DJ is an explosive north and south runner with great size and strength, and while he is not a speedster by any means, he is; however, an elusive runner that can make people miss and take it to the house. Overall, Arizona got a great player!
