2023 Covina, California athlete Solomon Davis officially committed to the Arizona Football program on Wednesday afternoon.

Another young man made it personal for Jedd Fisch and the Wildcats, helping to raise Arizona’s recruiting class ranking to No. 18 nationally on Rivals (the only other team in the top 20 from the Pac-12 is USC at No. 10).

Making news on Wednesday afternoon, Arizona Football received yet another commitment, this time it was from Southern California athlete, Solomon Davis, a 6-foot-0, 185-pound athlete from Charter Oak High School in Covina, CA.

At Zona Zealots, we luckily were able to meet the soon-to-be high school senior late last year at a Premium Sports IE (Inland Empire) football event. He then told me about all his offers; at which point he had 17 in total, five coming from other Pac-12 programs.

Davis selected the University of Arizona over Oregon, Colorado, Washington State, ASU (but of course), and Cal among others. He also had an offer from HBCU Grambling State (Grambling, Louisiana) but decided to stay closer to home.

Davis is listed as a running back, wide receiver, and cornerback on his HUDL profile, and as a wide receiver on his Rivals profile. Solomon is a versatile football player that is also an extremely intelligent commit, currently sporting a 4.2 GPA, while ranking No. 37 overall in the state of California.

Zona Zealots Expert Eric Townsend had this to say about Davis:

“Arizona landed a solid defensive player in Solomon. The kid has great length, size, and athleticism for a corner, and his addition will help bolster the defensive secondary for the Wildcats.”

As a wide receiver during his junior season, Davis proved to be extremely nimble, can create separation, and catch footballs. He also seems to be able to evade defenders with ease. Here are his junior highlights:

When meeting Solomon, I spoke with his group of supporters who seemed giddy for the moment their protege would announce his commitment, although at the time we had no idea where he was leaning. Here is our interview with Solomon Davis:

Since his commitment, Solomon was nice enough to answer a few of our questions post announcement:

ZZ: Why did you choose to play for the University of Arizona?

“I genuinely believe in the vision that Coach Fisch and the rest of his staff have for the program. Things are definitely going to be turning around in Tucson for the better and I want to be a part of what’s going to happen!

ZZ: What pushed you over the edge?

“Just spending time with the coaches, players, and support staff, my family and I knew that this was the place for me.”

ZZ: Do you know what position you will play?

“I will be playing defensive back for the University of Arizona!”

BEAR DOWN SOLOMON! WE CAN NOT WAIT!
