Bennedict Mathurin is first Wildcat taken, picked No. 6 by Indiana
Being the first Wildcat taken in the 2022 NBA Draft, the Indiana Pacers picked Arizona Basketball star Bennedict Mathurin with the No. 6 overall pick.
After months of anticipation and build-up leading up to the 2022 NBA Draft, the annual event is finally here with several Wildcats hoping to have their dreams come true.
And the first one likely to hear their name called on the evening was former Arizona Basketball star Bennedict Mathurin.
Coming into the draft, there was plenty of belief that Mathurin would go in the Top 10. After all, he had great workouts with several teams, he was the Pac-12 Conference Player of the Year, and at 20 years old, he is a young player with tremendous athleticism and upside.
Well, on Thursday evening at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, as the picks started to roll in, it didn’t take long for Mathurin to hear his name called as the Indiana Pacers selected the Canadian native with the No. 6 overall pick.
Becoming yet another Wildcat to join the Indiana Pacers organization, Bennedict Mathurin should be a welcomed addition in the Hoosier state.
Becoming the 75th Wildcat to be drafted into the NBA, the Pacers are going to be getting a great player in Mathurin.
And as a recap, here is who the Pacers will be getting!

2022 NBA Draft Selection: 1st Round, 6th Pick (Indiana Pacers)
In 2021-22, Bennedict Mathurin has been full of surprises, and just as he did this past season with the Wildcats, he surprised many scouts leading up to the draft with his superior athleticism, tremendous upside, and sharp shooting ability.
To me (although my opinion may be biased), Benn has All-Star potential. He has the ideal length for a wing at the next level and given his size, athleticism, and versatility, he is going to make the Pacers very happy, and he should be a great compliment to Tyrese Haliburton.
