Bennedict Mathurin shows confidence, challenges LeBron James
With Bennedict Mathurin turning his focus to the NBA, the former Wildcat has his eyes set on dethroning current NBA superstar, LeBron James.
Former Wildcat Bennedict Mathurin has only been in the NBA for only a few days now, and already the rookie is exuding tons of confidence, setting some pretty lofty goals.
At Arizona, fans fell in love with Mathurin for many reasons. Whether it was his confidence and competence on the basketball, sharp shooting, superior athleticism, or perhaps a combination of those things, he became a lovable Wildcat.
So far, Benn is trying to bring his flair and confidence to the game, as just days after being drafted No. 6 overall by the Indiana Pacers, the soon-to-be rookie has called out longtime NBA superstar, LeBron James.
Making news on Friday, Benn was asked what he was looking forward to in the NBA [playing LeBron], and he answered bluntly, saying he (LeBron) has to prove his skill against Mathurin.

Credit the Bennedict Mathurin for his confidence and fearlessness, but going up against an NBA Superstar as an unproven rookie is a daunting challenge.
“To be the best, you got to beat the best”… or so the popular idiom goes. And props go to Mathurin for approaching the NBA with extreme confidence and a positive outlook.
With his approach, the young Mathurin puts himself in a rather tough position. Not only succeeding but producing at a high level in the NBA is no easy feat. And hopefully, Mathurin is one of the many former Wildcats to have immense success at this level.
However, by making such polarizing comments, he is going to draw a lot of attention (some of it warranted), as well as a bit of criticism.
Perhaps that was his point, to get everyone’s best shot, forcing himself to get better, or perhaps he truly feels he is better than everyone else and will let his work ethic and talent take over.
Either way, you got to love the kid’s spunk, and this makes his post-Arizona career more intriguing to follow!
