The 2022 Arizona Football season is just months away at this point, and we provide a preview and outlook of the Wildcats’ offensive line.

As we are all familiar with by now, it is that the 2021 Arizona Football season did not quite go as planned. The Wildcats endured several injuries and overcame transitioning to a new coaching staff, all en route to stumbling to a less-than-inspiring, 1-11 record.

Arguably the most glaring issue amid the Wildcats’ struggles last season was their play along the offensive line.

Overall, the group lacked depth and talent, they suffered a few key injuries and together they struggled mightily at times, surrendering 35 sacks and averaging 129.6 yards per game rushing with just six rushing touchdowns.

Luckily, that is all behind us, and the expectation is that things should be a bit better from top-to-bottom with the Wildcats this season.

That is why we are providing an early, 2022 Arizona Football season preview of the Wildcats’ offensive line.

Coming into the 2022 season, Arizona’s offensive line situation looks better. For starters, they are another year into head coach Jedd Fisch’s system, which typically means improved results as players become more familiar with the system and get more repetition.

But beyond that, the depth is significantly better as well. The Wildcats return several guys that made starts along the offensive line last year, plus, they have added a few key pieces along the offensive line as well.

With no inside knowledge about the Wildcats’ depth chart, this is what I could see being as the Wildcats’ starting offensive line for game one this season.

Left Tackle: Jordan Morgan (Sophomore)

Left Guard: JT Hand (Freshman)

Center: Joshua Baker (Freshman)

Right Guard: Josh Donovan (Redshirt Junior)

Right Tackle: Paiton Fears (Redshirt Junior)

Immediate replacements would include guys like; Davis DiVall (redshirt freshman), Leif Magnuson (freshman), Jonah Savaiinaea (freshman), Sam Langi (junior), and Joseph Borjon (freshman) among others.

I understand it is largely the same group as last year plus you add Davis, Jonah, and Joseph. But overall, the returning experience should help, and as long as the Wildcats stay healthy, it should at least be a serviceable group.

Here’s to hoping the Wildcats keep quarterback Jayden de Laura upright, and the offense can take a major step forward behind these guys.
