Continuing to gain steam in the recruiting class for 2023, Arizona Basketball could be in a good position for Kwame “KJ” Evans who is set to announce his commitment.

It wasn’t long ago that Tommy Lloyd and Arizona Basketball got involved with highly-touted 2023 five-star forward Kwame “KJ” Evans.

The Florida-area prep star had announced his then Top Five list of schools which didn’t include Arizona at the time.

Luckily for us, that didn’t stop Lloyd and the Wildcats from getting involved in this recruitment. And in the subsequent weeks/months since offering him, Arizona had made up significant ground with KJ.

So much, so that they not only landed in his list of top school choices, but the Wildcats have also picked up several Crystal Ball predictions over the last few weeks from some of the 247Sports’ Scouting experts.

Arizona seems to be in the driver’s seat at this point, and with good timing too, as making news on Friday evening, KJ is ready to announce and will make his decision on August 2 (his birthday) according to Tipton Edits.

The work put in by Arizona Basketball in such a short time can not be overstated enough, as the Wildcats have certainly made difference for Kwame “KJ” Evans.

Tommy and the Wildcats have done a tremendous job staying busy over the past several weeks, securing several last-minute commitments for 2022, as well as getting highly-touted 2023 point guard Kylan Bowell to reclassify and come to Arizona a year earlier.

And with KJ Lewis now being the only player committed for 2023, Lloyd and the Wildcats are looking to add more pieces. What better addition than to possibly add KJ Evans?

For those that need reminding, Evans is the No. 3 overall player ranked in the class by 247Sports and he is also considered to be the top-rated power forward, as well as the No. 1 prospect from Florida.

The Wildcats have done a tremendous job in recruiting for Kwame, and with him committing in the next couple of weeks, the Wildcats are in a great position to possibly land him.

He would be a huge addition to the class, and his length and athleticism would allow Arizona to do many things with him.

Kwame is a versatile forward that can play inside or outside, at the next level, and his ability to score at all three levels makes him the perfect offensive weapon for Lloyd.

He also uses his length and size well on defense to disrupt passing lanes and challenge shots. Here’s just a small reminder of how good he can be!
