With the 2022 Arizona Football season just around the corner, the Wildcats have been picked to finish 11th place just ahead of Pac-12 Media Day.

We are now officially into year two of the Jedd Fisch era in Tucson, and so far it has been a slow and steady rebuild for Arizona Football as the Wildcats continue to make progress in turning things around.

As we are all aware by now, the 2021 season was a bit of a rough one as the Wildcats came into the year predicted to finish last. Unfortunately, those preseason rankings seemed to be a bit too accurate, as Arizona stumbled to a less-than-inspiring 1-11 (1-8) finish.

The Wildcats’ lone win in 2021 came against a Covid-riddled Cal team on Homecoming to snap a 20-game losing streak.

Now, despite a rather fortuitous off-season, as we head into the 2022 season, the Wildcats’ expectations are still relatively low.

Just ahead of the annual Pac-12 Media Day, Arizona Football has been predicted to finish 11th in the conference this season.

Making slow, but steady progress from the year before, this season marks the first year since 2019 that the Wildcats haven’t been picked to finish last in the preseason rankings.

Sandwiching Arizona in the preseason media polls, is rival ASU (No. 10) and Colorado (No. 12). Perhaps surprisingly, Utah is the heavy favorite, meanwhile, Oregon comes in at second, and USC is a close third.

Now, while things may still be a bit rocky and tumultuous for Arizona, it does show that Fisch and the Wildcats may finally be on the right track in getting this thing turn around.

Unfortunately, the Wildcats were given no favors scheduling-wise as Arizona faces several tough matchups.

Arizona opens the year on the road against San Diego State before returning home to take on Mississippi State for their home opener.

The Wildcats will also have tough matchups against USC, Oregon, Washington, Utah, UCLA, and Washington State looming.

Either way, we are excited to see the long-anticipated return of Arizona Football and are hoping for the best in 2022.
