Finally meeting with the media, Arizona Basketball transfer Cedric Henderson Jr. sat down to chat about coming to Arizona, the 2022-23 season, etc.

It has been a few months since Campbell wing Cedric Henderson Jr. announced that he was transferring to Arizona.

And finally, on Tuesday afternoon, Cedric sat down with the media to discuss all things Arizona Basketball as well as the upcoming season.

Coming in, it was made clear to Cedric why they want him, “I think I bring experience. I’m a good cutter, I can shoot… and I expect to honestly shoot better this year.”

Last year at Campbell, Cedric did just that! He was their do-it-all wing that led the team in scoring with 14.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, all while shooting 49.8 percent from the field, including 38.0 percent from three.

And while his role will likely change with the Wildcats, it was ultimately Arizona’s vision and pedigree that brought him to Tucson. “Honestly, it was really about the skill work,” he said. “And the fact that Tommy and them are so big on getting guys better and putting them in the league.”

Playing basketball at Campbell versus Arizona Basketball is a different world; however, Cedric Henderson Jr. appears ready for the challenge.

“Tommy’s a players guy,” Cedric said. “There’s not too many coaches especially, at least that I know of that just go in when you’re doing your individual workout, just see how it’s going, and put his input in and tell you what you need to do.”

For an experienced player like Cedric, he brings a wealth of basketball knowledge and intangibles that should prove to be beneficial to the Cats, even though he will have to adjust his game a bit to Arizona’s style.

The biggest change in the style he will see at Arizona is “the pace,” he said. “I mean one of the fastest paces in the country. A very good scoring offense. And then where I was at Campbell was a slow pace… it was a good concept though, it taught me a lot especially about cutting and learning basketball.”

Luckily, he is taking it in stride and believes that a change in style will allow him to succeed. “I think it will honestly allow me to play at a better pace and then put me in more pick-and-rolls,” he said. “And then playing with a point guard that knows how to pass up the court.”
