LUBBOCK, TX – Fresh off of a big win against Iowa State, Arizona Soccer (2-0) remained perfect on the year after beating Texas Tech 1-0.

We are steadily moving along in the 2022 season for Arizona Soccer, as just days after rallying to beat Iowa State to begin the year, the Wildcats returned to action on Sunday evening.

Hoping to continue their winning ways, Arizona packed things up and traveled to West Texas for their first official road game of the season.

Taking on Big-12 foe, Texas Tech, the Wildcats returned to the pitch in what was once again another competitive matchup.

Facing another slow start, Arizona Soccer would stay aggressive in this one, finally scoring late to secure the 1-0 victory over Texas Tech.

Like their game against Iowa State, this one would be a bit of a back-and-forth match, despite Texas Tech getting seven shots in the first half and 10 shots in the second. Luckily for us, those attempts would be for naught as the Wildcats held the Red Raiders scoreless.

Staying aggressive themselves, the Wildcats would chip and claw their way in this one before their efforts finally paid off.

Remaining scoreless through roughly two-thirds of game action, the Wildcats would finally find the back of the net when a cross from Maddy Koleno would set up Megan Chelf to head the ball past the Red Raiders’ goalkeeper, taking the 1-0 lead.

Texas Tech would put a few more shots on goal, but luckily, Arizona’s Hope Hisey came up big stifling Texas Tech’s offensive barrage. The Wildcats went on to secure the 1-0 win over Texas Tech, improving to 2-0 on the season. Arizona will return to action on Thursday when they take on Nebraska in Lincoln.
