OMAHA, NE – Hoping to keep their perfect record intact, Arizona Soccer (2-0-1) battled against Nebraska, ending in a 1-1 draw.

Moving steadily along in the 2022 season, just days after beating Texas Tech on the road, Arizona Soccer returned to action on Thursday evening with another tough challenge on its hands.

This time taking on Big 10 foe Nebraska, Arizona traveled to Omaha for its second-straight road game this season, hoping to keep its perfect record intact.

And as the Wildcats returned to the pitch, it was once again another competitive matchup for Arizona.

Once again overcoming another slow start, Arizona Soccer would stay aggressive in this one, eventually coming away with the 1-1 draw.

Similar to its two previous games, this one would be a bit of a back-and-forth match for much of the first half, despite Nebraska getting seven shots to Arizona’s two shots in the first half. And luckily for us, those attempts would be for naught as the Wildcats held the Cornhuskers scoreless.

However, the scoreless tie wouldn’t last long as Nebraska would strike first in this one. At the 62nd minute, Nebraska would set up a cross that deflected off an Arizona defender and into the goal to make it 1-0 in favor of the Cornhuskers.

Staying aggressive themselves, the Wildcats would chip and claw their way back into this one before their efforts finally paid off.

Freshman Sami Baytosh would get the Cats on the board as she snuck one past the keeper after fielding a pass from teammate Maddy Koleno to make it 1-1 at the 73rd minute.

Nebraska would have a few more attempts in this one, but luckily, Arizona’s Hope Hisey came up big stifling the Cornhuskers’ offensive barrage.

The Wildcats went on to tie 1-1 with Nebraska, keeping their perfect record intact at 2-0-1. Arizona will return to action next Thursday when they take on Grand Canyon in Phoenix.
