As Arizona Football came away with the impressive 38-20 win over San Diego State, we look at the Wildcats’ win by the numbers.

The 2022 Arizona Football season is officially underway as the Wildcats have started off the season with a bang!

A year removed from their 38-14 loss to the Aztecs, Arizona looked like a completely different team on Saturday.

Taking to Snapdragon Stadium to take on a formidable opponent in San Diego State, the Wildcats were laser-focused from the start.

Dominating the Aztecs from start to finish, Arizona Football came away with an impressive 38-20 win, and we look at the numbers in the Wildcats’ win.

100 – Playing the first official game inside the newly built Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, it was 100° at kickoff, the hottest recorded temperature in San Diego State football history.

Luckily, the Wildcats were able to overcome the high heat, coming away with a 38-20 win over the Aztecs.

After the game, Jayden de Laura says he and the team weren’t phased by the heat, “this is really nothing to us“.

38 – Arizona scored 38 points, which is the most points that the Wildcats have scored since their 41-34 loss to USC last season. Arizona only scored over 30 points just once last season.

4 – Arizona’s Jayden de Laura threw for four touchdowns yesterday which is the most by an Arizona quarterback since Khalil Tate threw for five touchdowns and 350 yards against Colorado in 2018. The Wildcats won that game 42-34.

5 – On Saturday, the Wildcats scored five (yes, I repeat five) touchdowns in the red zone. Last year, Arizona scored just 12 touchdowns in the red zone all season, seven of which were passing touchdowns. Arizona had four on Saturday alone.

461 – On Saturday, the Wildcats’ offense was impressive, outgaining the Aztecs 461 yards to 232 yards. As a result, the Wildcats dominated the Aztecs en route to a 38-20 win.

46.2 – Last year, Arizona ranked 122 overall, converting on just 32.1 percent of its third down conversions. On Saturday, the Wildcats converted on 6 of 13 attempts (46.2 percent).
