TUCSON, AZ – Looking to rebound from their 1-0 loss to GCU, Arizona Soccer (2-1-2) battled against UAB, earning a 2-2 draw after a major comeback.

Moving steadily along in the 2022 season, just days after falling to in-state foe, Grand Canyon on the road, Arizona Soccer returned to action on Sunday morning with another tough challenge on its hands.

This time taking on Conference USA foe UAB, Arizona returned home to the friendly confines of Murphey Field at Mulcahy Soccer Stadium, hoping to get things back on track.

And as the Wildcats returned to the pitch, it was once again another competitive matchup for Arizona.

Despite falling behind 2-0 in the first half,  Arizona Soccer was able to overcome its slow start, eventually coming away with the 2-2 draw.

Similar to some of its previous games, this one would be a bit of a back-and-forth match to start, but it would be a slow start for Arizona as the Blazers were able to strike first.

Scoring in the 17th minute to break the 0-0 tie, UAB would take the lead at 1-0, before striking again at the 35th minute. This time on a cross that set up Carlyn Presley for her second goal of the game, the Blazers were steadily in control in the first half, leading 2-0.

Luckily for us, the Wildcats would stay aggressive themselves, slowly chipping and clawing their way back into this one before their efforts paid off.

Finally, in the 73rd minute, junior forward Jordan Hall was in the right place at the right time as she rebounded a ball that deflected off the crossbar and put it into the goal to cut UAB’s lead to 2-1.

Less than a minute later, Arizona would have another chance to score again. This time the Wildcats would draw a penalty from UAB, allowing for Madison Goerlinger to take a penalty kick that she eventually snuck past the keeper to tie the game at 2-2.

UAB would have a few more attempts near the end, but luckily, Arizona’s Hope Hisey came up big stifling the Blazers’ offensive barrage.

The Wildcats went on to tie 2-2 with UAB, improving their record to 2-1-2. Arizona will return to action next Sunday when they take on Pepperdine in Tucson.
