Following their huge win over San Diego State, Jayden de Laura and Jalen Harris earned Pac-12 Player of the Week honors for Arizona Football.

The 2022 Arizona Football season is off and rolling and as the Wildcats dominated the San Diego State Aztecs this past weekend, arguably no one had a bigger week in college football than the Wildcats.

Led by strong play from virtually everyone; however, perhaps none had bigger games for the Wildcats than former Washington State quarterback Jayden de Laura, and sixth-year defensive end, Jalen Harris.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Pac-12 Conference Player of the Week honors, and on the list from Arizona Football were Jayden de Laura and Jalen Harris.

Presented by Nextiva, Arizona saw two players on the season’s first weekly performance awards after their dominant showing in San Diego.

First up was de Laura! Being named the Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week, the former Cougar had a hell of a debut after throwing for 299 yards while completing 29-of-35 passes with four touchdowns to just one interception.

Jayden’s four touchdown passes are the most by an Arizona quarterback in their Wildcat debut since Anu Solomon threw for four touchdowns against UNLV in 2014.

He is also the first Wildcat to win this award since J.J. Taylor was named the Offensive Player of the Week following the team’s Week 4 win in 2018.

Next up was Harris! Being named the Conference’s Defensive Lineman of the Week, the sixth-year senior also had a hell of a game.

Harris had a career-high eight tackles (4 solo), with 1.0 sacks during Arizona’s 38-20 win. He was also a big reason the Aztecs had just 170 yards rushing and 62 yards passing.

He is just the second Arizona player to win the award since its inception in 2019 after Kyon Barrs won it in Week 10 of last season.

Big things are brewing in Tucson and second-year head coach Jedd Fisch Lloyd is a big reason for that. He has the Wildcats playing great football in the early part of the season, and while this team has a long way to go, the future is bright.

Jayden, Jalen, and the Wildcats will return to action on Saturday when they take on Mississippi State (1-0). Arizona will have a challenge on its hands as they welcome the Bulldogs to Arizona Stadium.
