With the Indianapolis Colts officially cutting kicker Rodrigo Blankenship, former Wildcat Lucas Havrisik will have a shot to make the roster.

The 2022-23 NFL season is underway, and already we are seeing quite a few changes with several rosters. One significant change making waves in the NFL was with the Indianapolis Colts.

Making news just days ago, the Colts cut their kicker Rodrigo Blankenship. And luckily for us Wildcat fans, former Wildcat Lucas Havrisik has been signed to the Colts practice squad as a result.

A great opportunity for Lucas, this news is coming just a few months after he had received a camp invite from the Indianapolis Colts.

Competing with Chase McLaughlin for the kicker position, one of them will be named the starter for the Colts’ game against Jacksonville, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Joining the Indianapolis Colts practice squad, former Wildcat Lucas Havrisik has a great opportunity to officially join the roster.

As you may recall, Lucas came to Arizona a few years ago as a highly-touted kicker out of Norco High School in Riverside, CA, and after a fairly successful career with the Wildcats, Lucas is off to bigger and better.

Havrisik finished his career having converted 34-53 (64.2 percent) field goals with a career-long of 57-yards. He was also 73-78 on his PATs.

Lucas proved himself to be a rather solid collegiate kicker, kicking some impressive field goals in his career; however, where Havrisik seemed to prove himself to be incredibly valuable was on the Wildcats’ kickoffs.

In 305 attempts in his career, Havrisik kicked an impressive 232 touchbacks with an average of 63.0 yards on the kickoff.

Lucas has the leg talent, and perhaps the opportunity is there for him to still get on with the team. Where Lucas will need to improve is with his accuracy. Either way, we are excited for Lucas and are hopeful that he makes the roster!
