SALT LAKE CITY, UT – Looking to continue their winning ways, Arizona Soccer (3-3-2) battled but came up short against Utah (5-2-2).

Moving right along in the 2022 season, Arizona Soccer returned to action on Friday evening in Salt Lake City to kick off Pac-12 action.

This time taking on Conference foe Utah, Arizona returned to the pitch at Ute Field with a significant challenge on their hands against the Utes. , hoping to get things back on track after a tough loss to then No. 10 ranked Pepperdine.

Facing yet another competitive matchup, Arizona would have its hands full in this one!

Despite a quick start by Arizona Soccer, the Wildcats were unable to hold on, falling short in their 2-1 loss to Utah.

Unlike its previous games, the Wildcats started fast in this one as they were the first ones to strike.

Scoring in the 13th minute, Arizona would use a few well-placed passes to set up the goal for midfielder Gianna Christiansen who would find the back of the net to make it 1-0 in favor of the Cats.

Unfortunately, the lead would not last long for the Wildcats in this one, as just a few minutes later, the Utes would score the equalizer in the 19th minute. Tying it at 1-1, Arizona was unable to regain the lead just before the half.

Hoping to rebound and find their rhythm in the second half, the Wildcats would be unsuccessful as Utah took the lead at 2-1 in the 53rd minute as the Utes’ Maryn Granger put a ball in the back of the net after receiving a well-placed corner from Madeline Vergura.

Unfortunately, Arizona would not be able to recover as they eventually fell 2-1 to the Utes.

With the loss, the Wildcats fall to 3-3-2 and will return to action on Thursday when they return to Tucson to take on Pac-12 foe, Stanford.
