Making their third appearance in the Mexican Baseball Fiesta, Arizona Baseball kicks off day one action against the Naranjeros de Hermosillo.
Arizona Baseball is back! Well, kind of… after a few months off, the Wildcats return to action as they partake in a little fall baseball in the desert.
Traveling all the way to Kino Veteran’s Memorial Stadium in Tucson (roughly 4.6 miles from campus), the Wildcats gear up for their third appearance in the Mexican Baseball Fiesta.
Coming in, the Wildcats are fresh off of an NCAA Regional appearance, and the team looks to make steady progress in year two of the Chip Hale era. However, with the 2023 baseball season still several months away, the Wildcats will be challenged as they take on a solid Mexican Pacific League opponent in the Naranjeros de Hermosillo.
For 2022-23, Arizona will be breaking in several new players after being hit pretty hard by the MLB Draft. As we are all aware, Daniel Susac and Tanner O’Tremba were drafted and signed contracts with their respective ball clubs.
Beyond that, incoming recruits Demetrio Crisantes and Drew Sommers will not suit up for the Wildcats after also signing Major League contracts.
Luckily, Arizona did have a few late recruiting wins as they brought back Tony Bullard from the transfer portal and added two transfer pitchers in Cam Walty (Nevada) and Drew Dees (Butler).
With that said, here’s a look at the Wildcats’ upcoming opponent!
